I read tech support forums fairly often (something of a nerd
), and I remember seeing something about this. Guy tried to install Win7 via bootcamp on a brand new mac, seemed to work fine, showed the windows logo, hung indefinitely on a black screen afterward. Sounds like your problem, yes?
The issue was the vga.sys (read: display) driver not loading/properly installing/something. The post I saw claimed that this problem was fixed in the January 2010 bootcamp upgrade. If I were you, I would go back into your mac, make sure you have the newest version of bootcamp (fully updated), and make sure you have the latest system upgrades from Mac too (however Mac handles that), particularly anything related to graphics card drivers. After that, give the installation another shot from the beginning. If that doesn't work, you should do some serious googling on the vga.sys file not loading, and see if there are any better suggestions out there.
Also: if you do end up having to take it somewhere, do NOT take it to best buy, unless (god forbid) you have a warranty through them and can't afford to go elsewhere. Geek squad is the lowest of the low on the computer nerd foodchain.
