Granted, Belgium is the other extreme, but before a week has passed, a coalition government will be in place, when coalitions are so alien to the country and it's far from a natural alliance? Amazing.
My impression is that they are panicking, because the perception is that a new government has to be in place NOW. Because that is how it has always been. They are not taking the time to work it out properly.
I don't know if the politicians know any better themselves, but the way the papers have been going on, every day that we don't have a "strong government" is another day that the pound will die a horrible horrible death.
Which seems a little odd to me, it's not like society crumbles during the summer months when there's no parliament.

Oh, how simply grand it is to be travelling by dirigible again. Direct us to the west good sir, tonight we will remember what it is to live.

His sister didn't make it, though. At least there's only one Rees-Mogg in Westminster?

In a mild British way this is the most unexpected political alliance since the Nazi-Soviet Pact.

On a vaguely related note - how long has it been since a child was born in Downing Street No. 10? *NM*
