doesn't matter which phone it is what matters is that the i-phone can be replaced and windows can't random thoughts Send a noteboard - 27/05/2010 08:34:13 PM
I work at a high tech company with lots of engineers who love cutting edge stuff and they love the android phones. Doesn't mean the androids will take off of course because they all geeks and like techi complicated things.

The point I was trying to make is if the basis of your companies value is a cool gadget are piece of software you are vulnerable to being replaced by the next cool thing or by evolving technology. Think how big Yahoo, MySpace and AOL used to be. Something cooler came along and they were replaced. Unless someone replaces the PC it will very hard to replace windows since so much software is written around it.

I guess what it really comes down to is Microsoft has a strangle hold on the operating system market and they use that use that to leverage themselves into all sorts of areas. Apple on the other hand has a large market because it is perceived as being cool and it has some good devices on the market. Either one of those can change quickly.

Not saying Apple is going to go away but if I had a million dollar to invest for ten years microsoft would be the choice hands down.
