most laptops don't have more than a 1 year warranty.

Now I am not so sure anymore, though...lol

It's a HP Pavilion dv7-1140eg Entertainment Notebook-PC


EU Directive 1999/44/EC is the one you're looking for, assuming that Germany tranposed it. Ireland didn't because our consumer protection lasts longer, but I believe most of the rest of the Europe did.
