Money spent on the American people and on American companies is an investment, some of which have already paid off. Healthcare reform will take longer to have a noticeable effect, but compared to costs incurred by people who have medical emergencies and are NOT covered, there is a good chance of a nice turnaround.
It might not work, it is true. But just screaming about the debt is misleading. No matter who is in power, something actually has to be done about the debt, and that is where folks like you seem ominously silent. It is easy enough to say "Spend less money!" But given the penchant of the right to just hurl money into military endeavors with no hope of a return, I am not quite certain I trust your financial acumen.
