It would be really nice if we didn't get a repeat of last time around, and actually had two worthy teams in the final.
But I see your point.
But as a more or less neutral fan (sort of supporting the Netherlands and Argentina, but that's mostly because they play attractive football) I only want to see England in the final if they prove they're worth it. If they knock out Spain or Brazil or Argentina or some such, great. But if several favourites don't even make it to the quarter-finals and England or any other team gets basically a free pass to the final... then bah.
And I genuinely believe we can beat them, both due to previous records and the arguable state of the current Argentine team.
That said, I also love Argentina, and if they outplay us, or if there's a unbelievable single-handed performance by Lionel Messi, then I am A-OK with that.
I have a man-crush on Messi, no joke. I keep meaning to arrange to see Barcelona, just so I can tell any future kids I saw him play.
