It's stupid things like last night i think it was linekar who said (paraphrase) "and Italy have New Zeland tomorrow they'd be more worried playing Jedward" (i had to look Jedward up and was even more pissed off to find it's some talent act). I could list every "idiotic" statement like that, cause some of my more bitter compatriots have made a list :P

To be fair, I wonder how many of those are from Lawrenson and Hanson? Northern Irish and Scottish?
All the main people are smug prats with Lawrenson being the worst of them - I'd happily see them all sacked so they can go play golf together somewhere and make their smug jokes to each other there.

The weird thing is they (especially Hansen) revel in the fact they don't know much, before the Slovenia/USA game, they were all laughing cause they didn't know anything about the players from Slovenia. I actually like Motson as an analyst as opposed to a commentator, he's very knowledgable.

I'd missed both those comments, probably shut them out:P
I saw that Shearer made a similar comment pre-Algeria against Slovenia as well, basically saying he din't know anything about either side and seemed proud of it.
I think Motson would be good moved to in studio - he's not been able to keep up with the speed of the game for a while but like you say, he does know his stuff.

It's not the nationality it's the fact it's just the "london-based" arm of the BBC that got moved en masse, Lawro is easily the worst. Some of the English regional commentators i've heard on radio have been brilliant, they should pick the best team, not just the former players from MoTD.
