Today I was thinking about the concepts kosher and halal, which are partially based on health concerns. Of course, there are also plenty of rules within these systems that are more based on separatism (being different from other peoples) and mysticism (god just doesn't want you to eat this, you are incapable of understanding why!).

So if starting a religion today (you'd think that people are too cynical to follow a religion started now, but it's quite apparent that people are still willing to follow new revelations), I'd forbid the following foods:

1. High fructose corn syrup
2. Meat of animals that were treated poorly
3. Eggs of chickens that haven't been outside onto real ground
4. Hydrogenated trans fat
5. Artificial sweeteners

What food stuffs would you forbid in your religion?

I think perhaps Pot Noodles would go up against the wall as well. Cheese Strings or their international equivalent. In fact, any kind of plastic cheese. Yeck.
