Case in point: of the dozens of board games that I have, the only piece I am missing is one German fighter plane from the original 1982 version of Axis & Allies, and I suspect my brother is responsible for that loss. There are no water marks, sticky spots or stains on any of the boards.
So, at least in my case, I got the lesson.

As for the board games missing pieces, none of mine are (although I have to use a separate piece of paper when playing Clue because we went through the pad that came with the game before I was even old enough to understand how to play it).
A possible exception would be Risk, but I say that only because the entire thing, box and all, is just gone. It was there before I moved, but is now nowhere to be found.
