I found it amusing that the article points out - quite rightly, of course - that the amounts of money in that industry and the way things happen are a bit ugly and "offensive to American sensibilities". Because the American system of drafting is equally offensive to European sensibilities, even though when you get down to it the offensive aspects of both systems and associations with "slave trade" are quite similar.
