You're being intelligent about it and NOT putting yourself in the position of the writer. You're not friending people you know will annoy you, rather than friending them and then letting them piss you off with ridiculous updates w/o being able to tell them they are being idiotic.

The only good point IS what Sareitha highlighted, and I agree with that completely. Everything else is just "is this person worth it to keep around and be annoyed or should I cut the fat?" Imho, anyway- if I let myself get all tangled up over it, that's my fault.
