Thanks! I am mostly worried about anti-american sentiment and doing something ignorantly that would offend. I have taught middle easterners before and they always seemed to be more formal and stand-offish than I was used to. When I would try to help them with problems I would always sit down beside them and they would carefully move themselves away a bit. I didn't notice it at first but eventually stopped sitting so close.
I basically actually asked the guy in the phone interview if anyone in the country disliked the school because of its western focus..
My husband is from Jordan, it's not as ass backwards as everyone things.
Scariest thing you'll find is the driving. The only rule is there are no rules.
Otherwise, it would be like living in America. People (generally) speak enlgish. There are fast food restaurants, tv, air conditioning, cable, etc...It's pretty normal.

So yesterday I had a phone interview with the head of the science department at Kings Academy in Jordan. I had put in an application to work there but I hadn't expected anything to come of it. I would be lying if I didn't say living and working in Jordan as an American didn't scare me some. Which I am sure came through in my phone interview. I thought though I would see if there was anyone here who had any connection to that school, graduated from it worked there or any Americans who had lived or worked in Jordan. Doing as much research as I can, and as expected it is somewhat contradictory.

It might look better if you removed the typo from your subject line. *NM*

Jordan is both civilized and not anti-American, for the most part.
