Facts are you need at least a vocational degree or a college degree, if you do not have one your income will be lower as well as your job security. You can still be successful without a degree but it will be harder and more stressful. Now just obtaining a degree is not enough, it has to be one that is services related. A person in construction is going to have completely different job prospects compared to a person with some job training in a medial field.
While not impossible, it is extremely difficult and stressful to support a wife and 2 kids on a single job (only the father working) with any job that only require a high school education in today's economy.
