I nor the author never said the word failure connected to people getting college degrees or not. Please stop using that word for it looks like you are putting words in my/the author's mouth. It feels like you are exaggerating our points.

Facts are you need at least a vocational degree or a college degree, if you do not have one your income will be lower as well as your job security. You can still be successful without a degree but it will be harder and more stressful. Now just obtaining a degree is not enough, it has to be one that is services related. A person in construction is going to have completely different job prospects compared to a person with some job training in a medial field.

While not impossible, it is extremely difficult and stressful to support a wife and 2 kids on a single job (only the father working) with any job that only require a high school education in today's economy.
