the study he builds his argument around is not worth questioning random thoughts Send a noteboard - 26/07/2010 06:43:21 PM
It is too deeply flawed to hold up to even casual questioning. He is arguing that traditional family values are inferior to new "blue" family values and the support for his argument is a flawed study so I think questioning the demographics of that study is important.

I do agree with the idea that a large part of the resistance to gay marriage is because people feell that the traditional family has been threatened and weakened over the past few decades and they are beginning to get a bunker mentality where traditional families are concerned. I think that if you ignore silly studies like the one he sighted and simply look at studies that show children do better when they are raised in a committed two person family then you see the argument to defend it gets stronger.

Supporters for gay marriage only hurt themselves when they try to support gay marriage by attacking the traditional family. The argument should be that gay marriage functions and serves the same role as a traditional heterosexual marriage. If that isn’t true then it shouldn’t be called a marriage.
