You can get the apps off there Brian Send a noteboard - 06/08/2010 03:00:40 AM
My first thought after playing with it for a little bit was that Samsung had stuck a wig and moustache on a HTC Desire to try and make it fit in with the iPhone crowd.
Or, more to a point, it really feels and acts like the HTC's little brother that wants ever so much to be a Desire but isn't quite there.

Without getting into detail - I like it. I played with an iPhone 4 and Nokia X6 and 5800 and all sorts of other sexy gadgets and gizmos of all levels and I have come out of the store having put a Galaxy on backorder (pick it up Tuesday).
I know for a fact that Samsung are terrible with after-sales service and what Brian says is true (although I have seen in the doco that the next android updates will be applied as released) - but I have a strong feeling that because this handset is second only to the iPhone for sales (at least, it is here in Melbourne) that Samsung might start to pick up their game.

Also, it came pre-loaded with unecessary apps and when I asked if they could be deleted (and tried to do so off his phone, much to his despair) it appeared I couldn't... That was odd. It's also really really lightweight plastic so if you think your phone might get knocked around a bit... Maybe avoid it.

You have to do something called rooting the phone. It gives you a lot more power to play with the phone. I'd look into it and see if it interests you. I'd probably wait until they release the update for 2.2 to do it though, as you would have to re-root the phone after the update.

As far as the updates go, I'm sure they will do it for the Galaxy S phones, but it probably won't be til October/November where as Motorola and HTC have already started pushing out the 2.2 update to their customers.
