Really? An Elephant? lyringlas Send a noteboard - 23/08/2010 04:44:55 PM
Isn't it convenient that an elephant is used to symbolize America; also the symbol of the republican party (yes, I realize that should be capitalized); but then again, seeing who posted this, I am not surprised.

Also, I'm torn on this comparison. Although, the elephant is generally an intelligent animal, it does completely decimate its territory, stripping it of vegetation and everything else. America isn't a very intelligent entity, so I'm trying to find a substitute that would make this comparison much better. Hmmmm, how about this?

"When a cat dances with a bulldozer, the cat pays much more attention to the bull dozer than it [the bulldozer] does to the cat. This is due to several things:

1. bulldozers are inanimate objects, lacking any intelligence;

2. they're very big, and cats are very small, thus allowing for easy bullying;

3. its main purpose in life is to schlep organic matter out of its way and brow beat the environment into homogeneous complacency to build suburbs for middle class white people; people that generally hate cats and like dogs.

4. Bulldozers are generally driven by people without college degrees. Although I am not saying you need a college degree to be intelligent, I am saying you should have one to run the government. America, you betcha: Our government wears blue collars."

I think that comparison works much better, because I don't want to give the world the impression that although we're bullies that destroy things, we still know what we're doing (because we don't).
