The libertarians don't like the social conservatives but neither group is large enough to be valid without the other. I am willing to let the social cons have their voice as long as they remain ineffective. The problem really comes in at the local level where social conservatives can get a large enough majority to do things like approve “Of Pandas and Men” (a pro-creationist book) as a science book. Of course even then system was self correcting and ever school board member was voted out at the next election and that was in super conservative Plano Texas.
