Despite several dates, I haven't had a real, local, significant relationship since Winter 2005. It's been more than 5 years.

That said, I'm told the only way to make it work is to keep trying. You're part way there... you at least have promising relationships. :)

Don't think about settling now, when you're still in the dumps and upset. Right now, take care of yourself, bandage up your emotional wounds, and get Amanda going right. When you're back in ship shape, then go out fishing again. Just don't go bottom trawling... no one wants to date a bottom feeder. :)
