At least you haven't had 4 jobs fall through on you lately! With everyone out of work there is always just ONE person more qualified than you are.
Hell, I had an interview with a newspaper last week and the publisher sat there raining praise on me that I was exactly what they were looking for; I had the right attitude, experience, skills, and my cover letter was fantastic.

I did get offered a job that would have made sure I was working before ever being discharged from the Navy. I had the job in the bag and was ready and willing to work whatever shift for whatever pay, was ready to start immediately after being discharged, and excited and grateful for the job. Then the Navy screwed me over by keeping me in for almost 45 days longer than they originally told me they would. The employer couldn't keep the job open that long. When the president of the company himself picks up your application from their hiring company, you have a good in I'd think. Alas, someone else got my job and I'm stuck looking elsewhere.
