I don't think there's any danger of Germany returning to the kind of aggressive nationalism they had back then. The younger generations in Germany are as pacifist as those elsewhere in Europe.
No, I'm talking politically. There has been a lot of talk about the Franco-German axis dominating the EU these past decades, with Germany on equal footing or at times even less influential than France. Considering the incredible mess that France is at the moment (and I say that as a Belgian, go figure), Germany claiming a first among equals position in the EU would be a good idea.
