Most high schools have libraries. The Shrike Send a noteboard - 11/09/2009 07:13:37 PM
I somehow read most of the article thinking this was about a college, and was rather abhorred at the notion. Then I came across the ages of the students and the impressively low amount of checked out books, and suddenly things made a lot more sense. What does a HS need a library for, unless perhaps it's located in some thinly populated area where public libraries are few and far between? That clearly isn't the case here, though. And if so very few books were checked out, that means the books were barely used so then getting rid of them isn't all that shocking.

Some are connected to the city library system as well. Decentralization of books isnt something I necessarily like. But libraries make for good study areas and sometimes have really nice old books that smell lovely. I'm surprised you're surprised. Go watch The Breakfast Club to see an awesome high school library.

I'd be shocked, except that I'm not sure why a HS needs a library in the first place. - 11/09/2009 06:01:44 PM 984 Views
