1) Which languages did you learn in school, and for how long?

English and Irish since Junior Infants ie since I was 4, and German since first year of secondary school for 6 years.
2) Which languages would you say you speak with some degree of fluency?

English. I can hold a conversation in Irish if it's not with someone who speaks a Donegal or Ulster dialect, aand my German is passable if basic. Also, I'm fairly good at picking up the odd phrase of Romance languages but have little general knowledge of them.
3) Do you think languages get too much attention in the school system you went to, too little, or just about enough?

I believe that I never had a good Irish teacher, and that other languages should be taught earlier, but only as an optional extra. Similarly, I believe Irish should be optional by secondary school.
4) What do you think of the remarkable dominance of English that appears in the data?

Not overly suprising, if a ittle sad
