I'm not sure if it's the "legal definition" of slander, but it sure looks like slander to me. Last I checked, slander is not constitutionally protected.
Loosely speaking, Slander is S for Spoken, Libel is L for Literary, if that helps, its my own little memory tool for it. But a blog is a fixed medium and would be libel, me saying at a party that Bob Johnson is a %#&$ing @#%$ would be slander. Though proving defamation took place is a real bitch in either case, doubly so since the 'victim' probably qualifies as a public figure
