I think much more than a couple months would be excessive. Giving the couple a bit of benefit of the doubt, it could be that this occurred more due to the actions of the father (considering the other charges, I have to wonder about what exactly was going on), or that this was some one-off drunken immature-parent act. TOTALLY not excusable and I am not trying to excuse their actions. But if they are not a normal thing in the household and if this child is otherwise a safe and loving home, I think throwing them into the foster system is even worse. As I said to Aisha, there are worse things than tape in the foster system.
