I am beginning a cultural anthropology course tonight and in doing my reading, I came across an interesting statement.

Human beings are incomplete or unfinished animals who complete themselves through culture...

The author is speaking of specific cultures: Italian, German, American, etc. To decide whether or not this statement is true, I must think about a couple of things. Does being an American and being part of what is typically considered to be "American culture" complete me? So I need to decide what American culture really is.

What exactly is American culture, in your opinion?
