Is it even entirely legal for a fire department to deny aid? I put forth this question based on an implied right to property, and the assumption within society that the fire department is there to protect both people's lives AND their property.

While, as far as I know, firemen take no vows, this is similar to the set of assumptions that created law for doctors to save a person's life in an emergency even if they do not want to or will not be paid.

These firemen, essentially, denied this man his right to property by standing by and doing nothing when they had the full ability to assist.
