I think circumcision became popular here for theoretical hygiene reasons but I think they also believed it would discourage masturbation. Now I think it is mostly done simply so junior’s wee willie look like dad’s. It might be a hot topic for some parents and few oddballs who make it a soapbox issue but overall must people don’t give more then a few minutes thought. When my first son was born we discussed it decided to get simply because that is the norm.
