What is it that is less impressive about the GT? I will probably get the 3G one way or another, just because this is a gift for my hubby and he's indicated that he thinks that's important. God knows why 
He has really been eyeing the iPads and is lusting after one. I thought the GT might be a better fit because of the size, but if it's really not as impressive, I don't want him to be disappointed.

The iPad is a nice, big, pretty screen. The TAB just feels cramped and tiny. If there were a price trade-off for the decrease in size, I might be willing to accept it, but there's not. It really just feels like a big phone rather than an altogether different device. It also seemed slow compared to the iPad. The iPad is just generally simpler. Not as much application management, richer store experience. It's just a way more mature device.
Yeah, we have decided against a dedicated e-reader for now, but as I expect him to use this device for reading as one of the primary purposes, I thought the smaller size would make that a better experience and he'd get more use out of it that way.
I feel like the iPad is too heavy for long-term reading. I also look at a computer screen with light shining back at me all day long. That's why I love my NOOK--it's lightweight and easy on the eyes.
Has anyone played with/bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab?
