The Netherlands shot themselves in the foot by refusing to bow to FIFA's demands. I wish England was missing out for the same reason... though I can live with it being that our media has been happily pointing out what a bunch of crooks most of FIFA are (and ignore that our PM has happily climbed into bed with them)

Yeah, it's pretty shitty that they're reluctant to give the tournament to them because of the media. When they announced the candidates I was really excited about the options, because I'd love to go to England to see some of the games.

I suspect the US has no chance for similar reasons to the Netherlands, though I also wouldn't want it to get the WC as it is too soon since it was last there.

I can agree with that. The one thing I will say about the U.S. and the tournament is that it's about time for the CONCACEF region to get another World Cup, and the U.S. is pretty much the only suitable location in the region. If Mexico or any of the other CONCACEF nations ever get their shit together enough to be able to handle one, they should definitely be awarded one.

I can't help but be selfish and want it here in the States, because....well I'd love to be able to see a number of games in person and not have to travel out of the country.
