It IS "Christ Mass" after all. Presents and trees are fine to the extent they reflect that, but as an end in themselves, well, if it's just about more cheap gaudy crap I'm not interested.
That's what I'm saying, except I'm more than not interested, I'm hateful about it.
However, IMHO, this isn't really the best way to combat it. The best way to reclaim Christmas is still the best witness to Christianity: Live by example. I don't claim to do the best job of that either, but it IS the goal, however poorly realized. Shaking your fist right back at the people trampling each other to get to the last Christmas sale isn't a big selling point for an alternative view. Maybe bring the Salvation Army Santa out front some hot cocoa and a fiver.
