My view: It will not work (on a full scale)beyond village level due to human nature, greed, laziness, and an inherently selfish world view.
Arguement for: Sorry, I don't have any arguements for...I do have lots of examples of my view being right though.
Ok, lets try again.
In a socialist world, there would be no poverty, no starvation, no crime with those motives, and no want for anything. Everybody will have a job to do, something to produce, or administrate, or service. They will be able to do what makes them happy and produce enough of whatever for everyone to enjoy. Because they will be doing what makes them happy, they will be efficient and have ample personal time to work on personal projects. There will be no war for resources because resources will be available to everyone. (this by the way, is Marx's definition of a communist world after the workers "Revolution" and the subsequent transition period.)

"Choose partners carefully to avoid this situation" cuts both ways; "choice" is the operative word.

Not an argument or even completely applicable to what you just said. Just another viewpoint.
