So in other words out of self interest I should admire her? Now THAT's evil... Shannow Send a noteboard - 13/01/2011 07:38:36 PM
As for the rest of your post, I'll just quote an excerpt from the eminent play A Man For All Seasons.

Roper: So now you'd give the Devil benefit of law!

More: Yes. What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?

Roper: I'd cut down every law in England to do that!

More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned round on you — where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country's planted thick with laws from coast to coast — man's laws, not God's — and if you cut them down — and you're just the man to do it — d'you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake.

The reason criminal defenders fight for the rule of law is because they know it protects more than criminals. The rights that woman is defending are the same ones you would need were you accused of a crime. She deserves your respect, not your disdain.

All you're saying is that in order to protect myself against the off chance that I might need to be defended in a similar situation I must be glad that she's extending the suffering of those poor families?

Pure self interest, in other words. Nice.
