I can't wrap my head around this and I need some insightful commentary on this. Texas has recently passed a law making "sexting" a felony under child pornography laws. "Sexting" is texting lewd photographs of underage minors. No problem, right? But wait, this law applies to underage minors too! Yes, that's right! Say two horny 16 year olds text each other naked pictures of themselves. That's a felony!
Seriously? I understand that bullying is an issue and that teenagers can be cruel when it comes to texting pictures to embarrass people. But to make it a felony when both parties are underage themselves? I don't know...I mean, teenagers are horny and have sex all the time. If sex between minors isn't illegal, then why is sending each other naked photos illegal?
Thoughts?
