But at the time they were being told that they were Englishmen and they should be loyal to the king. If that is true then you really can't treat them like foreigners and they have a right to be upset if they treated as such. There may be some truth to your argument that the American colonies revolted with much less provocation than some other colonies did but I think the fact that there were supposed to be citizens but were not given the rights of other citizens played a huge role in how aggrieved they felt. Personally I take it as a matter of pride that we were less willing to be repressed than some other groups were. Being a Texan I get to take double pride for it;)
