1. any card is going to be better than your integrated graphics because your integrated card is sharing the system RAM and CPU to render graphics.

2. the video RAM is separate from your system RAM so you should get as good as you can afford for the video card. i would suggest that whatever kind of card you buy, that it comes with at least 256MB or more video RAM otherwise it may not be enough for whatever games you're hoping to play with it in the future.
