For an election that keeps the same party in power, it certainly is a political earthquake. Legolas Send a noteboard - 03/05/2011 08:04:17 PM
"Canadians gave Prime Minister Stephen Harper his first majority government Monday night, a ringing endorsement of his handling of the economy through one of the most devastating recessions in memory."

The Bloc Quebecois all but wiped out of existence, the Tories getting an absolute majority, the Liberals taking a historic drubbing and last but definitely not least, the NDP tripling its seats and becoming the second party. Oh, and the Green Party following the example of its British counterpart. Rather amazing, all that. It'll be interesting to see if this is a lasting reorganisation of the Canadian political landscape.

I found the majority surprising. Figured it'd be another minority. - 03/05/2011 11:11:44 PM 577 Views
