Well, it is comforting to know that I had not forgotten something major and obvious. Considering the centrality of baptism in most Christian denomination, however, I am surprised that this is not more of an issue.
Maybe because (as far as I know), all christian denominations see John's baptism as a temporal baptism that no longer applies today anyway. Now there may be (and probably are) some differences in opinion about the exact nature of it, but for christians that is about as important as the exact way Jewish food-laws should be applied today, since most don't believe they should be kept anymore after Jesus.
