I recently got the white screen on my iPod Touch (2nd Gen) and can't get it working again. I've search through the internet and seen several places where people have offered a few different versions of "lock button/home button/volume buttons." I've tried all the combinations that people have suggested, but they haven't helped any. I also tried to restore the iPod, also without any success. The screen still works because I can unlock the iPod. The only thing I can think to do now is to take it to the Apple Store. It's a 45 minute drive from where I live so I'm looking for some more suggestions before I make the trip. Also, if you've had this issue and had to take it to the Apple store, about how much should I expect to pay for it?
There has been no water damage. My son dropped it about a foot onto the carpeted floor shortly before the white screen showed up, but my previous iPod had been dropped worse without anything happening to it.

Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.

The only thing I can think of is to let your batteries drain and recharge it.
