If you want a tablet, get an Ipad and don't screw around. The kindle is better on your eyes and doesn't do bullshit that you don't need it to do. Further, batter life is amazing, AMAZING on the kindle. I've had the newest one since the beginning of March, I use it everyday and quite heavily overall, and I've charged it like 3 times since I got it. Only turn the wireless on when you need it and it really lasts forever.
I love my kindle for all the same reasons. I might charge mine a little more but that's because I have a cover with a book light and I use it pretty much every night. But that's still only once every couple weeks.
I love my Kindle and wouldn't trade it for a Nook if someone offered it to me.

Spock: I find that remark…insulting.

Nook e-ink touchscreen. Doesn't have the idiocy of the Amazon DRM, and it's conveniently shaped. *NM*

I don't think it's accurate to say real books will never be obsolete.
