Okay, I know some German kHz1000 Send a noteboard - 06/07/2011 10:45:07 AM
I'm struggeling with a picturecollection from WWII, privatearchive, with lots of handwriting on the back of the pictures in German. I don't understand German at all, so I'm kind of having problems with a few words to dechipher what the hell it says. Some of the writing has been written in pen (damn the idiots who uses pen on pictures!!!!) and so the ink has been wiped all over the place, leaving some of the words unreadable. I'm gonna post a few weird words/sentences here... Can someone please correct me or tell me what they say?

Picture of crashed plane: Krechgelandeter or Frugelandeter?

People overlooking mountain view: An der Swedischen grenze nach dem giccekokkagletscher

On the Swedish border after the --

Massgrave: Wo? Das uss ein soldaten = Friedhof sein mit umge = betteten gefallensargen, Narvik, Trondheim? Man erkennt die fahne mit dem Deutchen eiseren kreuz. Geborgene von einem schiffstorpedo? Rognanbotn?

Where? That (uss?) a soldier. Graveyard be with [umge? perhaps Umgebung? that's "surroundings".]
Man erkennt die Fahne etc. means: One recognizes the flag with the German iron cross.
I think geborgene means "the loaned". After that: by a ship's torpedo.
More to come if I can get help.

Nah, it's nothing like Dutch. Looks like mangled German or Scandinavian to me. - 06/07/2011 08:08:13 PM 315 Views
der Krach = 1) noise 2) crash 3) row *NM* - 06/07/2011 08:40:16 PM 135 Views
Quite. See how that might be relevant? *NM* - 06/07/2011 09:29:59 PM 130 Views

Very mangled. And what's up with the uncapitalized nouns? *NM* - 06/07/2011 11:45:31 PM 123 Views
Are you getting picky about other people's own languages again? - 07/07/2011 07:15:53 PM 279 Views
I'll try, but doubt I can improve much on what Jens provides. - 06/07/2011 05:15:35 PM 418 Views
As for the Rognanbotn: Google is your friend. - 06/07/2011 08:09:29 PM 321 Views
