It's only the UK and Commonwealth that play rugby. It would be like asking a bunch of Europeans questions about baseball.

Plus they were the team miraculously defeated in the World Cup final chronicled by Invictus (apparently they were unbeatable for about a decade; if rugby WERE baseball, the All Blacks would be the Yankees), which I just saw for sale at my Norwegian corner supermarket. All things involving Matt Damon are required knowledge for everyone, right? :P Speaking of local culture, I also watched the end of a rugby match on TV last weekend, so I wouldn't say rugby is only popular in Commonwealth countries.
