Made it a lot harder to argue when I wasn't really sure I disagreed in the first place; the whole "we can keep letting corporate America ship manufacturing jobs to China because the UAW is evil and you can support your family working at McDonalds or Wal$Mart" thing touched a nerve. They keep telling us how incomes are rising in China and creating a wonderful new market; they better be right, because American consumers will soon be unable to buy their products (and nearly are already). I don't think the public is as clueless about the situation as the Greedy Old Party believes though; they may not be able to give you a point by point analysis of HOW trickle down, supply side laissez-faire (though no one promoting it wants to admit that last one) "economics" is screwing them, but after a decade or so most people do realize it's happening and who's causing it.

Fair point, but the flip side is that we also don't know what would have happened if we'd responded to that intelligently instead of with supposedly stimulating tax cuts.
