Like in L. Ron Hubbard? All I meant was that the Force could be real even if someone made a fictional movie about it. That's what I presume this Jedi church believes, anyway. And yes, probably what Scientologists say, too. But however wacky their theology is, I personally don't think this Jedi's religion is any less worthy of politeness than, say those based on the Bible.
I disagree. I'm an atheist, but I have no trouble seeing that some beliefs are more worthy of respect than others. Age is a significant factor in this, as is origin, not to mention beliefs. Big man with a beard in the sky seems rather ridiculous to me, but nowhere near as ridiculous as certain others.
I realise this story is funny. And it is likely this guy doesn't take his religion actually seriously and just tries to make some money from this controversy. But it is also possible that he is sincere in his faith, and his outrage is real. In either case, his religious views were indeed publicly disparaged by a corporation.
I'm such a killjoy.
