There's no clear genetic link OR a clear environmental link. It's possible that they just... DO IT. It's a fatal and terrible error by the body's "spellcheck". Like a protein-cancer.

but, as I said, we didn't talk too much about that. They were just telling us how it's been known to just SHOW UP, despite no exposure to any contaminants and no clear genetic/environmental factor. In cows as well as humans. That's one of the reasons why, NO MATTER WHAT, all CNS tissue of cows is condemned by default in the US. You can't test it effectively on a production scale and you just can't ever really KNOW.
