If parents want to home school their children or send them to some private school to ensure their disconnection from reality, they can do that. I'm talking about the responsibilities of public education, which must be informed by facts and evidence, and how those shed light upon what is and isn't a public good.
First off, its not good to start a post by insulting people. You automatically assume that either home or private school ensures that students become disconnected from reality. That is a bit of an insult, because you're assuming that it is always the case. There are always expections.
No, that's not what I said. My position is that public schools should be required to teach fact-based sex ed. There are alternatives to public school if parents do not want their children to have the facts. My statement was conditional and limited. If the anti-sex ed parents choose to home school their children, then disconnection from reality is likely. The case will be similar if they choose some private school that fits their agenda, not any private school at all.
Secondly, and this goes back to my original post, for *this topic* facts and evidence is not enough. I do not want the education of this topic to be cold hard facts & logic. Why? Because sex is more then that. For me (and eventually my kids), it holds more then insert this there.
I want there to be more of an education about everything regarding sex...not just the cold hard facts behind it. I do not want it to be viewed as trivial and nothing different from long division and the French Revolution.
I'm sorry that you can't see this.

I'm really not sure what your point is here. This does not seem relevant to the topic at hand.
