Because there aren't any good right wing oppressive regimes for the Right to get behind these days?

The extremes on both sides are as bad as each other - so caught up in their own idealogy they can't see straight. There is just a lack of suitable regimes for the Right wing nutcases (like Maggie Thatcher with apartheid SA in the 80s and the support of the previous regime in Iran) to go all doe eyed about currently but there are still some for the Left wing nutcases.
From both sides there is the same willful blindness - they're so smitted with the few good points (from their perspective) that they can't (or won't) see the bad points.
Though I have noticed that some of the British right wing nutcases are starting to warm to China - "sure they do bad stuff... but they do execute people and exploit Africa so they can't be all bad, can they?"

Robert Graves "There is no money in poetry, but then there is no poetry in money, either."
Henning Mankell "We must defend the open society, because if we start locking our doors, if we let fear decide, the person who committed the act of terror will win"

As I mentioned in my reply to Legolas, 40 or 50 years ago it was mutual hypocrisy.
