I try to break it up a little with my animals, but hopefully they don't bore people into leaving too. I figure, at least it's original content and not something copy/pasted from elsewhere (though I am guilty of doing that with certain other posts).

I get the feeling that old-style fun posts wouldn't get that great of a response anymore, because a lot of the people who appreciated them don't hang around as often. Which would discourage the creator of said post, and perpetuate the cycle. Which has probably already happened, and is part of why the cycle has cycled this low.
