I barely have the desire to lurk any more. Even the people who I once considered intelligent are posting partisan political stuff, and it's not even the general election yet.
Maybe we should ban the journals section. I think what happened was that a few of us (or maybe just me, I don't know) decided that no one wanted random, obscure stuff on the general message board, and we started writing on the journals section so as to not bother other people. And now all that's left is a few monkeys scratching out political territory on the CMB, most of which is often just someone posting a link to somewhere else, or copying an entire article and posting it as though it's content. No one is writing anything interesting, and Kuke and Silje don't post.
God is dead, the internet is a re-animated corpse, and RAFO is dying. Or at least the CMB.
(But we have tweets now!)

I cannot even copy his manner because the manner of his prose was the manner of his thinking and that was a dazzling succession of gaps; and you cannot ape a gap because you are bound to fill it in somehow or other -- and blot it out in the process. -- Nabokov
The same five people post politics, every day... everyone else grows tired of it and leaves.
