In cases like Ohio-Belgium, Washington-Denmark or Florida-Australia, the populations are more or less equal, so that means the comparison more or less works in terms of GDP per capita as well. Not so for others, like New York-Russia.
I'm assuming absolute GDP, not GDP per capita. That would be the assumption, but I want footnotes! I want to know how "similar" was decided. Greater or equal to? +- x dollars? +- x %?
A map. Because maps rock. US states renamed to countries with similar GDPs.
