That sucks, especially as young as he was. I didn't know Monroe well, but well enough to like him. It was easy to mistake his fatalistic no nonsense attitude for crankiness until you talked to him for a bit, but then it was obvious he simply wasted no time with pleasant little euphemisms for unpleasant things. He was a good guy who'd had some pretty hard knocks and managed to remain a good guy throughout them, even though it wasn't always easy to avoid getting down about ongoing challenges. I was certainly rooting for him and have also wondered how he's been; I'll definitely miss him though I don't begrudge him relief from those challenges.
